History

Laurel is a shrub commonly found in the Mediterranean and was a symbol of glory and victory for the ancient Greeks. According to the legend, in order to escape the attentions of Apollo, Daphne asked her father to hide her, and he turned her into a laurel bush. This bush became the sacred tree of Apollo and laurel crowns were worn by warriors.
